One of the most common and easily treatable sexually transmitted infections is syphilis. This STD can lead to serious complications if it is left unattended and untreated. It has been known to cause conditions like blindness, brain damage and arthritis if left untreated in the past, and a timely penicillin antibiotic treatment is generally considered very important at this stage. You may be astonished but Ayurveda has amazing medicinal properties that can help patients suffering from syphilis. Herbal medicine for syphilis like Patanjali shatavar churna help in maintaining healthy reproductive health.
Reproductive systems of females have ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes and vagina. It’s the fusion of the male and female gamete that leads to the development of a child. Vaginal region remains soggy, warm and moist at all times, and it can get easily infected if exposed to viruses and bacteria, during the sexual act. Syphilis is a very contagious sexually transmitted disease and generally a direct touch with a sore on the anal, oral or vaginal region can lead to the spread of the infection from one partner to the other. These sores that are infected with syphilis can be present on vagina, anus, penis, mouth, rectum or the lips. A pregnant mother can also transmit the infection to her unborn child.
Syphilis shows up in three stages:
Primary stage:
The syphilis sore doesn’t hurt or pain and can be mistaken for a harmless bump, ingrown hair pustule or a cut on the skin.
Secondary stage:
In this the patient develops a non-itchy rash on the soles of feet and the palms or any other part of the body. If not taken care on time, it can lead to a stage called ocular syphilis or permanent blindness due to the sexually transmitted disease.
Latent stage:
In this there are no symptoms that can be seen evidently to declare whether the person is suffering from syphilis. The symptoms are hidden from the eye but they exist.
Tertiary or late syphilis:
The infection if it gets too serious and not treated properly starts to involve brain, heart, and the nerves and this leads to dementia, paralysis, impotence, blindness and the patient can even die if he or she does not get treatment on time.
You can get a simple blood test at the local laboratory at very reasonable rates to get your sexual health monitored and this test can confirm whether you are suffering from syphilis. You don’t want to put yourself in a “risky” category and for this you need to be careful about few things. ‘Indulging in sex with condom only’ needs to be your mantra and you should stay away from having physical intimacy with a person suffering from syphilis.
The disease is totally curable and it’s the timely diagnosis that does the trick. The treatment needs to be started earliest as each passing day exposes the brain and heart to this sexually transmitted disease. The best way is to stick to a sexual relationship with one sexually healthy partner. Try to stay away from promiscuous relationships where oral, vaginal or anal sex is encouraged. A monogamous relationship and the use of good quality condoms may help people stay away these infection-laden contagious sores.
